Notification of Change in Residence

Within fourteen days of moving to or in Hyuga you need to change your residence registration. Please bring the below listed items to Hyuga City Hall or the nearest branch office.

From Overseas:

・Resident Card, special permanent resident certificate, or alien registration certificate

・Proof of relationship (if applying as a family)

 

Moving from Another Place in Japan:

・Documents proving you have moved from your old to new location

・Residence card

・Proof of insurance (if applicable)

・Notification Card

 

Moving within Hyuga:

・Residence Card

・Proof of Insurance (if applicable)

 

Please talk to the Citizen Affairs Division on the 1st floor of City Hall.

Hours: Monday through Friday 8:30am – 5:15pm

Closed: Weekends, Holidays, and December 29th to January 3rd

 

If the resident gains Japanese nationality or dies, then the resident card should be returned to the immigration office. If the resident leaves Japan, the card should be returned to immigration at the port of departure.

 

Please note: failure to register a change of address without justifiable reason can result in a fine of up to 50,000円 in accordance to the Basic Resident Registration Act, Article 53 paragraph 2.
