Mayor Toya's message about the newly confirmed first case of COVID-19in Hyuga City(July 27)
Yesterday it was confirmed that someone in our city has been infected with COVID-19.
First I would like to express my concern for them and my prayers for their swift recovery. Also I ask that our other residents respect the infected person's human rights and privacy at this time.
The prefecture is currently contact tracing the infected person. Once more detailed information is in hand from the prefectural government we will move to take the necessary measures to control the spread as soon as we can.
I know many people will be worried now that our city has its first confirmed case, but I ask that everyone avoid any rash or extreme actions and act in a calm and collected manner based on verified information.
I would also ask that each and every one of us takes the greatest care to follow the rules of our “New Normal" by washing their hands, wearing masks, coughing into their elbows, and avoiding the 3Cs. Those who own businesses in the city, I ask that you do what you can in your fields to follow the preventative guidelines particular to them and help protect your fellow residents.
At the current time the prefectural government has declared an Epidemic Warning with three prongs to it: “Proactive Epidemiological Investigation," "Strict Compliance with Guidelines," and “Strict Adherence to Measures to ‘Stop the Spread.'"
Our city's plans will be based on the prefecture's strategy, so as soon as more detailed plans are completed they will be posted to the city web site.
To beat this we will need to work together as a city and do everything we can to stop the spread of COVID-19.
